Sponsorship FAQ
The spirit of collaboration gets under your skin
Either you or your firm can support BarCampMadison by becoming a sponsor. Cash contributions of any size up to $500 will be accepted, but contributions of $200 or over are encouraged as only those individuals or firms will be guaranteed a spot on the ultra-fashionable BarCampMadison t-shirt. In-kind sponsorships of goods or services for the BarCamp will also be accepted.
Q: What does the sponsorship money go towards?
A: The general sponsorship money covers the cost of supplies, any facility fees and helps cover any excess food expenses. The supplies usually include badges, materials for the schedule, and printing fees.
Q: Is the sponsorship tax deductible?
A: Receipts for tax deductions of cash sponsorships will be available through our fiscal sponsor DANEnet.
Q:Who should I contact if I’m interested in sponsorship?
A: Scott Fradkin
scott@fradkin.com
Q: Can my company display signs or collateral at the event?
A: A table will be setup near the registration area that can be used for collateral. Any printed materials or “swag” can be placed here. We will display your logo on our “Wall of Sponsors” at the event. However, don’t bring trade-show-style booths or displays.
Q: Can my company speak at the event?
A: Yes! BarCampMadison is an open format conference and any attendees are welcome to present. In many cases, it may be better to talk about the technology your product or services utilize as this will gain more interest.
Q: Are there other ways that my company can sponsor BarCampMadison?
A: There are several ways that your company can sponsor BarCampMadison other than a monetary donation. Here are some of the ways that you can provide sponsorship:
- Lending projectors, computers, screens and other equipment.
- Providing printing or copy services
- Providing snacks and/or beverages
If your business provides a business or service not listed here and you think that it may help us, don’t hesitate to contact us and we will work with your company to make it work.
Q: Who attends BarCampMadison?
A: Since BarCampMadison is an open event, we don’t know the full list of attendees ahead of time. At the last event, there were approximately 120 attendees. Most of these attendees were technology professionals and hobbyists, small business owners, and Madison’s technological in-crowd. Many of the people attending are innovators in web technology, but also have an interest in other subjects.
Q: When is BarCampMadison2 being held?
A: BarCampMadison2 is being held on Saturday July 26 and Sunday July 27, 2008. There will also be a pre-event on Friday evening.
Q: Where is BarCampMadison2 being held?
A: BarCampMadison2 will be held at the Extra Bold Portfolio School in downtown Madison, WI.
In order to foster the openness that the BarCamp philosophy is founded upon, a list of donations and expenses will be published at http://spreadsheets.google.com. By default all businesses will be named and individuals not named (unless individuals give consent).
